12 Years of Blisters & Bliss

Where did you go on your first date? ICECREAM
Jesse had a "first date" test. His initial date with any girl was to take them out for icecream. If just icecream and conversation was enough, they would pass the test and get a second date. He failed his own test once when he forgot his wallet. She didn't have any money either and they had to leave their icecream behind. Luckily we both passed the icecream test on our date.

How long have you been together? 12 years
Jesse & I met in the weight room, it was one of those "love at first sight" stories. We were engaged 3 months after we met and married 3 months after that.

Who eats more? Me
I eat more than everyone in the house combined right now.

Who said I love you first? Jesse
I knew he was "marrying material", but I was 18 so I wasn't in a rush. I was so shocked I don't remember if I said it back.
Who is taller? Jesse

Who is hotter? I would say Jesse, he was the first guy I dated who turned heads.

Who sings better? Jesse wins again. He was dating a girl who was a singer when I met him, she used to belt out in song in his direction when she sat next to him at church. Didn't work for her though, so I guess a beautiful singing voice wasn't at the top of his list because I can barely hold a tune.

Who does the laundry? Jesse did laundry the first 3 years we were married when we were living in student housing and the laundry facilities were in the basement. Apparently he got burned out because he hasn't lifted a finger since.

Who pays the bills? I do now, it's in my job description--Webb household management :)

Who mows the lawn? Jesse, I wouldn't even know how to start up a lawn mower. That is one advantage of growing up with boys.

Who cooks dinner? Whoever has energy at the end of the day.

Who drives when you are together? This is the only trait of Jesse's that I think is truly nutty. He cannot handle me driving, it gives him anxiety (even though I have the better record).

Who is more stubborn? We both can be, but he usually breaks down first and gives me my way.

Whose parents do you see the most? We try to keep in touch with both, but mine are closer and so they have an advantage. We are lucky to have two wonderful families--we enjoy being with them both.

Who kissed who first? Another test: Jesse put off kissing me the first month so he could first figure out how he really felt about me. I thought it was charming and sweet until the clock struck 12 on New Years Eve and this princess didn't get her kiss. I turned to him and said "isn't it tradition to kiss the girl you are with?" and finally--at 12:01, I got my kiss. So he kissed first, but I asked for it.

Who proposed? We both talked about it over Subway sandwiches at a picnic table by a little duck pond. He talked to my dad, bought the ring, and then took me back to the same spot to make it official.

Who is more sensitive? I cry over anything right now, but usually he's the bigger softie.

Who has more friends? I think that's a hard one to compare. I put more effort into my friendships and talk and visit with my friends often, so I would say me. But guys are just more simple in general and their friendships don't need much upkeep.

Who has more siblings? Jesse, unless you count the "lost boys" who were adopted into the Crane home (Ross & Bobby). I have family pictures to prove it :)

Who wears the pants in the family? Jesse lets me think I do, but when it comes down to it he is the one who keeps our little family grounded. I don't think he is perfect in every way, but he is perfect for me. He knows how to handle me and all of my craziness, he is a very loving and supportive husband.

We've discovered marriage isn't a walk in the park, more like a rodeo or a stampede--but I wouldn't trade this small town cowboy for anything.

Love you Jes!!!!
If you haven't done this, you should. It will remind you how much you love your husband. . . even you Tash :) Grandma Harris, I'd like to see you do this too!

I SO hear you on being the Household Eater. Yep. I get ravenous every hour and a half.

Very sweet, Jenna. I don't know if I believe Jesse is more sensitive though. He doesn't let other people see it!
I love the summary about the cowboy at the end. You are very well spoken.

Thinking of ya Jenna. How are you feeling? My massage didn't work wonders for me. I am still kickin! I heard baby animal days was a little crazy. I missed getting Kathy your gift. I'll try to catch her next time.
