Balance

Jake and Josh discovered new pets yesterday and carefully placed them into a jar with plenty of dirt and grass. Soon after little Josh was in tears, "my worms are dead mommy," he was heartbroken. This is where balance comes in, isn't the key to good parenting? Balancing our time, balancing our responsibilities, balancing our reactions . . . Josh had been trying to give the worms a "drink" and my bathroom sink was full of mud and nasty dead earth worms. Do I comfort him or get mad at him? Rule #1 with their new pets was to leave them outside. Well, I went with comfort first, then a reminder, then cleaned up the mess, yuck!
Boys have a sense of adventure you just can't help but to love.

I just have to laugh at this. We came home from Gronni and Poppi's Sunday with a pet beetle in a jar. He is still out on the window ledge. Carter kind of forgot about him(I hopt). But I'm wondering if his jar filled up with rain.:) Little boys are just too much fun!

So when my son decides to have some wormy little pets, you're going to help me get it all cleaned up, right?! I hate worms. Ick!

Blech!

I could use the "balance" reminder--I feel too uptight sometimes (sheepish grin).

Oh i can only imagine Joshy's little face when he came to tell you his worms were dead. What a cutie! Just make sure to teach them that all spiders are gross. I never want them to feel bad about killing a spider! Ha!!

p.s keep that baby in this weekend ok!! Love you!! Thanks for all you do! You are the best!

Jenna,

It's Amy McCormack now Parkin, but anyways I was on my cousins blog and noticed Lezlie's name and wondered if it was the same Lezlie I remember. Well I looked at her blog and find yours and was so excited. You look beautiful as always and I so happy your having a little girl. You sound happy and great. Just wanted to write and say hello.Good luck on the pregnancy...when are you due? I am also pregnant with a little girl, this will be number 2 for me. I already have a little boy that is 3. Amy,
How fun to hear from you!!! I'm just not sure how to get back to you. When I went on your blog
I couldn't find a place to leave a comment or contact you.
I would love to get in touch with you so please leave me an e-mail address or another blog address if you have one. Hopefully you will check back & read this.
Congrats on your baby girl! I am due this month--we are excited to have a little pink in our house.
Can't wait to hear from you :)

I seriously thought your 'balance' comment was going to be about that poor worm's ability to wriggle after it looks like it's gone through the weed whacker! I am hoping that my adventurous boy will get to learn about all of that stuff at his cousin's. Remember, cousin Ethan currently has 4 fish, 2 mice, and two tree frogs (complete with live food). Boys will be boys, right? You are Wonder Woman for being considerate of feelings first, and not throwing up cleaning up all the corpses. By the way, if you ever have a small dead pet that you want to bury, Brighton Collectible tins make great caskets! ;)
